About LDMF
Combining volumes onto new, large volume capacity storage subsystems is difficult, time consuming and requires taking revenue generating
applications offline for the duration of the migration. LDMF provides the solution you need to migrate and consolidate datasets.
LDMF moves datasets without disrupting access to applications. LDMF makes it easy to combine smaller capacity volumes to better utilize storage,
helps to increase available system resources, supports implementation of tiered storage, and can be used to improve application performance for
service level compliance. The ability to move datasets non-disruptively simplifies many of the challenges associated with data migration today,
removing the extensive downtime planning required.
IBM announced in June 2008 z/OS Dataset Mobility Facility (zDMF) which is a direct replacement for Softek LDMF.
Customers are encouraged to upgrade to this new product. For additional information
