LDMF is packaged in three formats: the Base release, PTFs and PE zaps.
Each is supplied in SMP/E and non-SMP/E files to meet customer needs.
Base
The Base release is a complete software system.
It has the form of Vx.y where x is the version and y is the release.
The Base release can be downloaded directly from the web or supplied on a 3490 cartridge.
PTF
PTFs are a collection of fixes identified by PR numbers and have the form of LDxxxxx.
PTFs are cumulative; the latest PTF contains all previously released maintenance.
PTFs may be downloaded directly from the web or supplied on a 3490 cartridge.
Once a new PTF is released, previously released PTFs are removed from the server and not available for downloading.
The fix list of previous PTFs remains on the server for viewing.
PE ZAPS
PE zaps are high impact fixes that correct customer problems.
It has the form of PRxxxxx and contains superzaps to affected modules.
PE zaps can be downloaded individually from the web and a process is available to download all the PE zaps that extracts into a
MVS PDS data set. Non-SMP/E users should carefully check the comments in the PE zaps to verify if there is a specified order of
application. Once a new PTF is released, PE zap files to the previously released PTFs are removed from the server and are not
available for downloading.
