POSITION TITLE
Sales Engineer

LOCATION
NYC, Chicago, San Francisco Bay Area

We are looking for a sales engineer to provide customers and sales reps with technical product advice and demo support during pre-sales discussions. Successful candidates should be able to solve highly complex sales support problems. This individual will answers prospects’ and salespersons’ detailed product questions, and prepare and performs detailed product demonstrations and product prototypes for prospects. In addition this person may provide installation support and post-sales consulting.  Position requires at least 10 years of technical product support experience.

Brief Summary of Essential Work Responsibilities

• Perform technical support activities in support of the company's products or services sales
• Perform and design detailed product demos and prototypes.
• Answer detailed questions from sales people and potential customers.
• Assist sales managers/sales reps in preparation of proposals.
• Assist sales managers/sales reps in preparation of RFI / RFP proposals.
• Maintain an advanced business and technical understanding of products.
• Assist prospects in resolving complex technical problems.
• Provide post-sale technical support, including installation and training
• Provides work leadership to more junior technical support staff
• Extensive Travel Required

Education, Work Experience, and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in business or computer science, or equivalent work experience.
• At least 10 years of experience in technical sales support and / or storage solutions.
• Excellent understanding of enterprise storage solution concepts and practices.
• High level knowledge of all areas of business operations with an ability to resolve complex pre-sales technical problems, working with field sales personnel. Able to present technical concepts in clear manner to customers through demos and proposals.
• Able to provide advanced guidance to other pre-sales support reps.
• Can effectively cope with change, shift gears comfortably
• Capable of multi-tasking opportunities and initiatives
• Excellent writing, editing, communications and interpersonal skills. Excellent PC skills.

Technical Experience

• Strong technical background with experience in Data Storage Networks, Disaster Recovery, Business Continuance
• Familiarity with some of the following OS platforms: Windows 2K/2K3/XP, Solaris, HP-UX, AIX, Linux, MVS
• Familiarity with some of the following HW platforms: EMC, IBM, HP, HDS, StorageTek, Network Appliance, and McDATA
• Proficient in a variety of other applications including: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Visio, MS-Project
